Lagos, Jan. 16, 2026 (NAN) The African Group to the United Nations has reiterated {that a} reform of the Safety Council stays important.

Amb. Matete Nena, Lesotho’s Everlasting Consultant to the UN and Chair of the African Group for January, mentioned the council’s present composition would not mirror up to date realities and perpetuate historic injustice.

He delivered an announcement on behalf of the African Group on the Normal Meeting briefing on priorities for 2026.
