A raging hearth on Sunday afternoon razed three residential buildings and a number of other outlets in Calabar, Cross River State, destroying items estimated at over ₦100 million.
The inferno, whose trigger had but to be ascertained at press time, consumed foam mattresses and different home items stocked within the affected outlets, leaving residents counting heavy losses.
The affected homes and outlets are positioned on Goldie Road by Bedwell Road in Calabar South LGA, a busy neighbourhood.
Offended residents reportedly attacked hearth service personnel who arrived late on the scene, accusing them of gross negligence and failure to reply promptly to misery calls.
Witnesses mentioned calls have been positioned to the College of Calabar Fireplace Service, the Federal Fireplace Service, and the Cross River State Fireplace Service shortly after the hearth began, however none responded till the blaze had already triggered in depth harm.
Pressure escalated when a rickety hearth service truck ultimately arrived, triggering outrage amongst residents, who pelted the crew with stones, water sachets, and different objects, forcing them to retreat from the world.

In the meantime, the Police Public Relations Officer within the state, ASP Etiokpah Sunday, appealed for calm, saying investigations had commenced to find out the reason for the hearth.
He warned residents towards taking the regulation into their fingers or exploiting the scenario to foment additional unrest.
