Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has reaffirmed the state authorities’s dedication to supporting the armed forces and households of fallen heroes.

He emphasised that their sacrifices would by no means be in useless.

Sanwo-Olu said this whereas addressing newsmen through the Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, held on the Remembrance Arcade, Tafawa Balewa Sq., Lagos on Thursday.

The governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, conveyed a message of solidarity to serving officers.

He stated: “The nation is behind them, and we’re praying for them. We’ll do every little thing doable to help them as they threat their lives to guard us.

“At the moment, we keep in mind our fallen heroes, pray for them, and encourage our army officers,

“That is to allow them to know their sacrifices haven’t been in useless. We additionally encourage households that their family members will at all times be remembered.”

The governor famous that the occasion was a part of nationwide celebrations whereas urging the army to uphold unity and democracy

Sanwo-Olu additionally reiterated the state authorities’s dedication to supporting widows and kids left behind by fallen heroes.

He assured the households of fallen heroes and ex-servicemen that the federal government would proceed to help and collaborate with them, take heed to their issues and work to deal with them.

The Information Company of Nigeria (NAN) studies that highlights of the occasion included the firing of rounds volley, laying of wreaths, and the discharge of ceremonial pigeons and balloons by the governor which symbolised peace in Nigeria.

Thereafter, the governor signed the condolence register.
