Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured members of the Nigerian Armed Forces of his administration’s unwavering help of their quest and efforts to safeguard and defend the sovereignty of the nation.

The Governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Kadri Hamzat, gave the reassurance on Thursday in the course of the Parade and Laying of Wreaths Ceremony in commemoration of the Y2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day, held on the Remembrance Arcade, Tafawa Balewa Sq., Lagos Island.

In response to Sanwo-Olu, the Lagos State authorities’s dedication to supporting the households of fallen heroes is rarely unsure, including that Nigerian governments and the individuals will all the time bear in mind their sacrifices.

He acknowledged Nigerian Armed Forces are risking their lives to make sure the protection of lives and properties, therefore, the necessity for the Federal and State governments to reciprocate by offering needed help.

“Right now, we’re doing the Armed Forces celebration and Remembrance Day to honour and encourage our army officers, in addition to to recollect our fallen heroes and to hope for them. And to allow them to know that their sacrifices have by no means been in useless. That is simply to point out them that the nation is behind them and that we are going to do every little thing that it takes to all the time help them,” the Governor mentioned.

Sanwo-Olu emphasised that the state stays dedicated to offering help for the widows of fallen heroes, noting that whereas help efforts typically occur behind the scenes, the federal government stays absolutely devoted to making sure that army personnel are inspired and valued for his or her service.

The Deputy Controller Common of the Nigerian Legion Council, DCG Wolimoh Hakeem Olawale, recommended the Lagos State Authorities for its steady help to the Armed Forces, notably the widows of the fallen heroes.

DCG Olawale, subsequently, reaffirmed the unwavering dedication of the Nigerian Legion to the welfare of army veterans and the dependents of fallen heroes, because the physique stays a statutory group established to cater to the welfare of veterans and the households they left behind.
