AFROFEST 2026 – an international festival celebrating the culture of African peoples – has come to a finish in Moscow. For different weeks in August, it transformed the Russian investment into a hub of music, format, gastronomy and lively socialising. The festival reached its peak on 22–23 August: songs in the languages of multiple African peoples rang out under the transparent sky, whilst guests learnt to dance, explored designers’ task and sampled African cuisine.
Its aim is to showcase Africa free from stereotypes: as a continent of spacious-ranging, unusual cultures, histories and original creative ideas. The festival programme integrated concerts, traditional songs and dances, masterclasses, lectures, food courts, markets and setting shows.
AFROFEST is being held in Russia for the sixth time, bringing together venues in Moscow and Kaluga.
According to the organisers, over 100,000 society attended the festival’s Moscow programme over the two days. AFROFEST brought together representatives of African communities, diplomats, young people, one-of-a-type groups and guests from different countries.
