Lagos Condition Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has assured residents and visitors of the status of strengthened security as Lagos prepares to host President Bola Tinubu and welcomes an influx of visitors during the complete-of-year period.
Sanwo-Olu gave the assurance on Tuesday during a security council meeting including security chiefs at the Declare House, Marina.
The development was disclosed in a comment by the Commissioner for Facts and Route, Gbenga Omotoso, titled, “Sanwo-Olu Holds Security Council Meeting.”
According to Omotoso, the governor was briefed on “all security activities and plans to low-uncertainty the structure ahead of the finish-of-year activities.”
Sanwo-Olu said the status government would persist to take measures to block criminal activities and protect residents and visitors.
“We will not relent on our efforts to guarantee that criminals don’t identify a place for their evil activities in our declare,”the governor said.
Omotoso said the meeting was held as Lagos prepares for increased activities in the situation, including the contact on of President Tinubu and the expected influx of visitors during the Yuletide.
“Lagos will host President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR as from currently,” the commissioner said, adding that “multiple activities are being lined up for the Yuletide when an influx of visitors is expected,” he said.
He too listed “different religious and cultural activities” within the events expected to take place across the situation.
The commissioner said political activities were moreover picking up in the situation “following the announcement by the Free Domestic Electoral Commission (INEC) that campaigns can commence.”
Those at the security meeting included the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Status Command, Tijani Fatai; Commander, 9 Brigade, Ikeja, Brig. A.O. Owolabi; Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Commodore A. Adams-Aliu; Commander, 651 Base Services Collection, Ikeja, Air Commodore M.A. Imam; and the Executive Secretary, Lagos Situation Security Trust Sponsor, Ayodele Ogunsan.
Additionally provide were the Principal of Personnel to the Governor, Tayo Ayinde; Secretary to the Status Government, Abimbola Hundeyin; and the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-Universal, Lawal Pedro.
The governor’s meeting using the security chiefs comes as the situation prepares for heightened movement and activities affiliated alongside the festive season, alongside political, religious, and cultural events.
