The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has expanded to November 30, 2026, the deadline for candidates including outstanding admission offers from 2021 to 2025 to adopt or deny the offers on its Essential Admissions Processing Mechanism (CAPS).
JAMB announced the extension in a statement posted on its X address using on Wednesday, urging affected candidates to log into their CAPS accounts and take the needed transfer prior to the deadline.
The extension gives affected candidates added time to indicate whether they prefer to accept to or deny their outstanding admission offers.
Candidates exposure losing outstanding offers
JAMB warned that candidates who fail to approve to or deny their outstanding offers by November 30 will lose the offers on its records.
The board said outstanding offers that continue neither accepted nor rejected later than the deadline will be reverted to “Not Admitted.”
- “Once 30 November, outstanding offers that have neither been accepted nor rejected will revert to ‘Not Admitted’ on JAMB’s records,” the board said.
The board too warned that any subsequent require to update an admission that has reverted to “Not Admitted” will entice the practical penalty charge.
It urged candidates not to wait pending the remain minute and advised them to verify their CAPS accounts to validate the condition of their admission offers.
Earlier deadlines
The current extension comes following an earlier deadline of September 30, 2026, announced by JAMB on August 29 for candidates using outstanding admission offers from 2021 to date.
- JAMB had initially established August 31 as the deadline for affected candidates to approve or dismiss their outstanding offers ahead of extending it to September 30.
- In its August message, the board said candidates who accepted their offers would be able to progress to print and acquire their admission letters, whilst those who rejected them would have their dashboards reverted to “Not Admitted”.
- JAMB too said candidates who were no longer in the institution where the former admission was offered or were now in a independent programme could receive the outstanding admission and subsequently implement for the fitting correction or deletion, where functional.
The board additional stated that candidates offered admission in the 2026 admission exercise but who still had former admission offers pending could deny the earlier offers lacking affecting their 2026 admission.
CAPS connection restored
The current extension comes as JAMB continues efforts to manage together with issues around its admission processing platform and constitute sure candidates can complete pending admission processes.
- Nairametrics reported on September 28 that JAMB had restored comprehensive admission to CAPS following a temporary disruption caused by functional challenges using its hosting arrangements.
- The board subsequently urged tertiary institutions to accelerate their 2026/2027 admission processes and advised candidates to promptly adopt admission offers made to them.
JAMB had announced the temporary shutdown of CAPS on September 24, citing technological challenges alongside its hosting arrangements. The platform is used by tertiary institutions to trade using admission recommendations and allows candidates to observe their admission declare and receive or deny offers.
