Candidate of the African Democratic Party (ADC) for Ondo Earliest Senatorial District, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, has dismissed claims of having a pact including Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa on the 2027 widespread elections.
He explained that his current meeting including the governor was not a political negotiation.
Naija News reports that Akinyelure stated this at a media conference in Akure, Ondo Situation finance.
According to him, he merely sought clarification on his political later in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He explained that he simply appreciated the governor for being honest and blunt using him on the disclosure that the APC’s senatorial ticket had already been ceded to party.
He said: “The simply thing I needed was to recognize whether the party would grant me the ticket fund to the Senate as I suppose I am the most competent people to represent Ondo Key. I resigned my PDP membership on May 30, 2023, to take consequence on June 12 once completing the four-year mandate,” Akinyelure said.
Disclosing his expedition to ADC, the two-term senator revealed that it was ADC that wooed him following he left APC, noting that it became inevitable for him to enter the party to pursue his political aspirations.
Akinyelure said: “Ahead of then, ADC came to me and said there was a seat for me and that they needed my political value to guide assemble the party. At least, he was honest including me, so no political pact.”
Giving reasons for joining ADC, Akinyelure explained that he had some unfinished legislation when he lost his outcome ticket in 2023 on the platform of PDP.
He said he was loyal to PDP despite losing the result ticket and pressure from some of his colleagues that he should defect.
“It’s just when you stay there for prolonged that you become highly pertinent to your constituents. I have incomplete labor in the Statewide Assembly and a lot of things on my mind for the development of Ondo Essential.”
Still, Akinyelure disclosed that he urged Governor Aiyedatiwa to confirm the community’s votes count in the forthcoming usual elections.
He promised to labor including any candidate that emerges victorious at the presidential election if voted in by individuals of Ondo Central Senatorial District.
PDP gave me a mandate, and I completed that mandate prior to leaving. That will be one of my priorities when I obtain to the Senate.
