The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe Condition has suspended two of its governorship aspirants, Khamisu Ahmed Mailantarki and Usman Aliyu Garry, over alleged anti-party activities.
The suspension was contained in a declaration issued on Wednesday, September 30, and signed by the party’s Situation Publicity Secretary, Abdulkadir Ahmed Dukku.
According to the declaration, the decision followed an emergency joint meeting of the Status Effective Committee and ward executives of Dawaki and Herwagana, the respective wards of Mailantarki and Garry.
The party accused the two aspirants of gross misconduct and alleged violation of its constitution, saying their actions could cause division and confusion in the midst of its members.

The development came a day later than the party conducted a original governorship principal in the situation, following a Federal High Court judgment that nullified its earlier initial and structured a novel exercise.
Ahead of the rerun, the PDP had cleared Mailantarki, Garry and former Minister of Communications and Virtual Economy, Prof. He furthermore indicated that he was planned to pursue the subject through means of the courts.
The PDP’s up-to-date declaration did not condition any additional sanction against Mailantarki or Garry beyond the one-month suspension and referral of the concern to the party’s Disciplinary Committee.

The party precisely cited Mailantarki’s proclamation in a media interview that he had won the September 29 primary, describing the statement as unacceptable.
It said the two aspirants had voluntarily accepted to take portion in the primary but later engaged in activities which it considered contrary to the party’s rules and regulations.
“The party from this suspended the two aspirants for a duration of one month and too referred the material to the Disciplinary Committee of the party,” the assert said.
The suspension followed the statement of Pantami as winner of Tuesday’s rerun, in which he polled 2,054 votes, during the time that Mailantarki scored 389 and Garry 112 votes.
Mailantarki subsequently rejected the outcome and challenged Pantami’s eligibility to contribute in the exercise, saying he considered himself the authentic winner
