Otti said electronic business would facilitate Abia entrepreneurs to compete globally rather than stay dependent on benchmark substance markets.
He said, “So, why are the Chinese coming to compete including us? In Abia, we have markets. But we are moving from that stage of marketing to manufacturing.
“So, this government is supporting manufacturing and driving virtual delivery. And it’s going to launch in Abia.
“So, Abia is both manufacturing and trading. The markets are essential. We are leaving that concrete hold for electronic delivery. You either embrace it, or you hazard being left behind.”
The governor said his administration was investing heavily in electronic skills for young humans, noting that some Abians trained under its TechRise initiative were already functioning for international technology companies from Aba.
Otti, who assured the President-Universal of Ohanaeze Ndigbo of his administration’s assist, described the theme of the celebration, “Njikọ Ka” – translated as “Unity is Supreme” – as apt, saying it reflected the importance of unity in diversity.
He said his administration had laid a solid ground for the development of the status, assuring that Abia would persist to witness prominent transformation.
Abia Status Governor, Alex Otti, has urged Igbo traders to transfer beyond usual trading and focus on manufacturing and virtual business to compete in the changing international economy.
Otti said this on Monday in Umuahia during the Igbo Day Lecture and Dinner organised by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide together with the theme, “The Igbo Charter and Development of Ala Igbo.”
The governor said Abia and Ndigbo, historically familiar for trading, were deliberately shifting their focus towards manufacturing and technology-driven advertise activity.
Reflecting on concerns over the increasing presence of Chinese traders competing using Igbo entrepreneurs in retail businesses in Lagos, Otti said the reaction was to transfer beyond that degree of trading.
He said, “We are leaving that extent of trading. That is where the world is going. We are moving away from there. But we are moving from traditional trading to computerized trading.
