An Ago-Iwoye Magistrate Court on Friday granted bail to three suspects arrested for alleged assault and obstruction of police officers in Ogun Status.
“A accurate-world confrontation allegedly followed, during which INSPR Abolarinwa Wasiu and CPL Olubamiro Adeniyi were allegedly assaulted. Video recordings of the incident, which subsequently circulated on social media, formed section of the materials reviewed during the research.”
According to a declaration by the Police Spokesperson, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, a crew led by ASP Akeredolu Emmanuel intercepted an unregistered Toyota Camry at Fibigbade Street, Ago-Iwoye, when a Toyota Highlander including registration count JJJ 215 JV allegedly blocked its movement at Abobi Street.
According to him, the sureties are to deliver evidence of tax compensation and proof of house ownership during the court’s jurisdiction, concern to verification by the court registrar.
The PPRO noted that the court granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, using two sureties.
Babaseyi said the defendants were facing five counts bordering on conspiracy, obstruction of police officers, serious assault and conduct plausible to cause breach of peace.
The defendants, Alaba Mulika, 51, Alawode Iyanu, 21, and Temitope Saliu, 29, were charged following an examination structured by the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, into an incident that occurred on September 29, 2026.
It was alleged that a tangible confrontation followed, during which Inspector Abolarinwa Wasiu and Corporal Olubamiro Adeniyi were assaulted.
The incident was said to have been triggered when the driver of the impounded vehicle called Alaba Mulika, an alleged Indian herb seller from Awa-Ijebu, who allegedly stormed the scene, attacked the officers and prevented the vehicle from being taken to Ago-Iwoye Police Station.
Babaseyi added that the case was adjourned to October 12, 2026, for further proceedings, warning members of the community against concrete confrontation alongside officers on lawful duty and urging them to channel complaints by path of lawful mechanisms.
