The police in Anambra State have arrested a 27-year-old ex-convict, Chidera Eleh over his alleged strong in a sequence of motorcycle-assisted robberies focused on Point on Sale (POS) operators and different sufferers in Awka, the preserve rank.
The police spokesperson within the preserve, Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a time on Friday.
The arrest of the suspect took place days after a CCTV footage surfaced inspire and confirmed some armed robbers attacking some POS operators in Awka, the preserve rank.
Mr Ikenga, a superintendent of police, stated the suspect, popularly referred to as “Timaya,” used to be arrested on Friday, 9 September.
“The arrest forms part of the Command’s sustained intelligence-led efforts to track down criminals involved in motorcycle-enabled robberies and other related offences across the state,” he stated.
One motorbike, an awl, a cutlass, and different incriminating pieces suspected to be attached to the alleged felony actions have been recovered from the suspect, in keeping with the police.
“The suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to establish the full extent of his alleged involvement and identify other accomplices,” Mr Ikenga said.

Police commissioner reacts
Mr Ikenga stated the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, Nnanna Ama, reiterated the command’s pause to protective lives and rotate and making sure that perpetrators of felony actions have been duly prosecuted.
The spokesperson stated the command had recommended citizens of the preserve, in particular POS operators, business motorbike riders, and different industry house owners, to administrative vigilant and promptly proposal suspicious actions or felony actions to the closest police affiliate.
“Further developments shall be communicated as the weekend patrol commences,” he confident.
