Rite Foods Tight yesterday provided individual protective equipment (PPE) to sanitation in Ogun Situation as component of activities marking this year’s World Cleanup Day.
The business presented 600 PPEs to sanitation workers across its collaboration including the Ogun Condition Waste Administration Authority (OGWAMA), describing the initiative as section of its commitment to environmental sustainability and assist for workers responsible for keeping communities clean.
Speaking in Abeokuta, the business’s Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Ekuma Eze, said the initiative was moreover designed to encourage the thought of a circular economy by turning waste materials into practical products.
Eze said regarding 30 per cent of the materials used to produce the coveralls came from waste generated by the enterprise.
According to him, materials including sausage labels and waste labels from the firm’s beverages are being repurposed for the production of the coveralls instead of ending up in landfills or drainage systems.
He said the firm, which is based in Ogun Situation, considered the initiative a manner of contributing to the network where it operates during the time that recognising the task of street sweepers.
“We reflect it’s essential that we recognise them on this occasion of World Cleanup Day by supporting them together with the appropriate PPEs they request to do their job,” he said.
Eze too disclosed that Rite Foods was targeting zero waste to landfill from its operations by 2030, including the aim of ensuring that waste generated is reused, repurposed or recycled.
He said the association using the declare waste instruction authority was not a one-off initiative but would continue as the organization grows.
Eze added that Rite Foods marks World Cleanup Day annually including initiatives aligned alongside the theme of the event.
He recalled that the firm had previously distributed school bags made from recycled waste materials to pupils as element of its activities.
