Community servants initiate three-day nationwide warning strike Friday

People servants at the federal, situation and nearby government levels are established to embark on a three-day nationwide warning strike from Friday, October 2, 2026, following unresolved demands by the Joint Countrywide Audience Facility Negotiating Council (JNPSNC).

The council directed workers to prevent task from midnight on Friday before Sunday, October 4, 2026.

It said the difficult conditions were additionally affecting vulnerable Nigerians and required collective measure by workers.

The circular stated that the strike would run from midnight on Friday, October 2, by route of Sunday, October 4.

The council called on society servants across federal, situation and area government institutions to take portion in the strike, citing the rising price of living and growing economic pressure on workers and their families.

The council had earlier advised the Presidency that the government’s reaction to the demands would determine whether the proposed warning strike would shift forward.

The workers are demanding, amid other measures, a reduction and stabilisation of petrol prices at N500 per litre, remittance of wage awards to society servants across the three tiers of government, and an upward adjustment of salaries and allowances.

According to the most recent circular, the absence of a reaction has now prompted the council to activate the industrial activity.

They are furthermore calling for the quick establishment of a committee to initiate negotiations for a fresh domestic minimum wage earlier than January 2027.

The directive was contained in a circular issued on Thursday and signed by the council’s Domestic Secretary, Comrade Olowoyo Gbenga.

The council said the decision followed the Federal Government’s failure to respond satisfactorily to demands it submitted to President Bola Tinubu in a letter dated September 21.

The council additionally urged workers to mobilise fully for the measure, maintaining that the challenges confronting community servants required a coordinated evaluation.
