A audience affairs analyst and All Progressives Congress, APC, chieftain, Ibrahim Uba, has urged Nigerians to shun extensive generalisation and instead review President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration based on factual evidence.
Reacting, Uba said Nigeria’s economic indicators, including actual Gross Domestic Offering (GDP) growth of 4.43 per cent, a decline in inflation to 15.39 per cent in August and improved availability to credit, showed that Tinubu’s policies were on the route to reshaping the country.
“(Nigeria’s economy recorded 4.43 per cent actual GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026, compared together with 4.23 per cent in the corresponding quarter of 2025 and 3.89 per cent in the opening quarter of 2026, according to the Countrywide Bureau of Numbers, NBS.)
His comments came once the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, in his Independence Day remarks, backed the “Tinubu Must Go” campaign, citing the economic hardship Nigerians are facing.
Whilst this represents a moderation in the rate of inflation, it does not mean that prices have fallen; the Consumer Rate Index continued to rise, meaning households still faced increasing prices, albeit at a slower rate.”
“Headline inflation stood at 15.39 per cent in August 2026, down marginally from 15.43 per cent in July.
According to him, Nigerians should not be distracted by political gimmicks but should continue focused on what has changed in Nigeria seeing that the Tinubu administration came into office in 2023.
Uba said this on Thursday, Independence Day, in Abuja, saying those championing the “Tinubu Must Go” campaign do not have the interests of Nigerians at heart.
“Nigeria’s economy recorded improved authentic GDP growth in the second quarter of 2026, compared using the corresponding quarter of 2025.
He added that his opinion was to guarantee that society reason around the difficulties Nigerians experience furthermore recognises documented beneficial interventions and allows competing claims to be tested against evidence.
