IXPN marks 20 years of Internet infrastructure development

IXPN Director Executive Officer, Muhammed Rudman, said the anniversary would honour stakeholders who contributed to the organisation’s development during the time that preparing the following generation of Internet infrastructure professionals.

“IXPN@20 is extra than a celebration of an organisation. It is an opening to recognise the humans, institutions and partnerships that have contributed to the development of Internet interconnection in Nigeria over the past two decades, whilst preparing the upcoming generation to take Nigeria’s internet forward,” he said.

Rudman noted that IXPN had evolved from a relatively compact interconnection initiative into an important piece of Nigeria’s Internet infrastructure.

The anniversary programme will section a Student Internet Infrastructure Discovery Programme, involving on 100 students from tertiary institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. Participants will achieve beneficial exposure to Internet supplant operations, network direction and statistics centre infrastructure, including visits to Receptive Entry Information Centres, Rack Centre and Computerized Realty.

In collaboration including the Nigeria IPv6 Council and AFRINIC, IXPN will additionally organise an IPv6 capacity-building programme for engineers, network operators and other practical professionals.
