The Commissioner of Police in Niger Status, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has directed Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers across the status to improve security approximately political campaigns and secure that clashes in the middle of rival campaign activities are prevented.
Elleman gave the directive on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, during the Niger Status Police Command’s strategic monthly conference alongside Heads of Departments, Area Commanders, and DPOs.
The meeting reviewed the condition’s security scenario, workable challenges and Force directives, including precise attention to political activities ahead of the 2027 comprehensive elections.
The CP directed officers to propose adequate security for all political parties and professionally control situations where campaign schedules overlap, stressing the prefer to steer clear of clashes, sustain audience organization and protected lives and attribute.
He too reviewed the recent intervention of the Inspector-General of Police in Borgu Community Government Area, where tactical teams and engaged assets were deployed to support security operations.
According to him, the increased police presence has contributed to a reduction in violent crime in the affected areas, a development he said had received society appreciation.
Elleman additional directed DPOs to strengthen engagement alongside Farmers/Herders Committees in their respective areas, follow their activities and submit broad-ranging reports of such engagements to the Command.
The Commissioner moreover briefed senior officers on the outcome of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO) 2026, held in Imo Situation from September 21 to 24.
He said the conference focused on election security command, electoral offences, cybercrime and other security concerns ahead of the 2027 widespread elections.
Elleman subsequently directed officers to deepen their understanding of election-relevant offences and persist professional in handling political activities across the condition.
He moreover reminded personnel of the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, warning that violations would entice disciplinary activity in line using founded regulations.
