Peanut Soup Ghanian

Peanut soup is very popular among Africans, this is the Ghanian version.

Several African communities share this same recipe. However, this is indigenous to the Hausa people from Northern Ghana.

Peanut butter soup (Nkate nkwan) has become one of Ghana’s most famous national dishes

The main ingredient is peanut butter.

I used a combination of goat meat and chicken in this recipe, but you can use plain chicken breast, beef or any meat at all.

Peanut Soup Recipe : How to Make Ghanian Peanut Butter Soup

Chef Chidi

Peanut soup is native to the Hausa people in Northern Ghana/Nigeria. This is an easy to make soup that I usually serve with rice balls (tuwo shikafa) or any kind of fufu (swallow).

They make peanut butter from groundnuts, and we buy them from major grocery stores or supermarkets around the world.

How to make Hausa Groundnut soup

In Nigeria, we call it groundnut soup. I am yet to comprehend the difference between groundnut and peanut, :lol

It is quite popular among the Hausa people from Northern Nigeria.

We make and enjoy groundnut soup also in the west, but that’s only because our northern brothers graciously shared the recipes.

Ghanian soup are delicious, they employ cooking techniques that are somewhat different from what we have in Nigeria. I have tried several other foods from Ghana like red red and light soup. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
