President Bola Tinubu has expressed sympathy with world-renowned boxer, Anthony Joshua, following a highway accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway that claimed two lives and left the boxer injured.
In a message addressed to Joshua on on X (Previously Twitter) on Monday, the President described the incident as a tragic loss that has forged a shadow over the season, whereas praying for the repose of the deceased and a speedy restoration for the boxer.
“I lengthen my deep sympathies to you following the tragic accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, which claimed two treasured lives and prompted you accidents,” Tinubu stated.
“This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow on this season,” he added.

Eyewitnesses stated the accident occurred shortly after 11am when the Lexus SUV conveying the boxer reportedly collided with a stationary truck close to the Danco Filling Station, earlier than the Sagamu Interchange on the Ibadan-bound lane.
Joshua was stated to have sustained minor accidents, whereas two occupants of the automobile died on the spot.
